I’m tellin ya’ll, f I had a nickel for every time someone came to me in a tizzy over their discovery of reusable toilet paper and bidets, I could afford to personally solve climate change.
No, seriously. People freak out about these things.
Because BUTTS! And Poo! Ew!
Folks often hit the toilet paper stage of their sustainability journey and lose their ever-loving shit (poo pun intended)
But here’s the thing friends. You don’t have to do everything.
If regular toilet paper is your booty’s jam, cool beans! Maybe consider switching to Who Gives A Crap because they’re plastic-free and more ethical than traditional brands, but don’t sweat not going with the “best” option of something reusable.
It’s okay.
Even if you decide to keep your super-amazing-fluffy-cushy-plastic-wrapped TP because you just need that one… you aren’t booted from the zero waste club. I promise.
Pick a different sustainable action item and it’s aaaaallll good.
The Zero in Zero Waste Isn’t Literal
Try as we might, our zero-waste lifestyles will never completely reach zero. Please don’t set yourself up for failure and frustration by setting a literal zero as your goal.
Waste happens. Single-use items exist, and sometimes we need to use them.
If there are things you can’t or won’t do while on your low-waste journey, just be sure to set those boundaries early on. From the food we eat to how we clean ourselves when it’s on its way out, there are about a billion and seven right ways to go about making sustainable changes in our lives.
No one can do them all.
The only real “wrong” way to go about your lifestyle adjustments and corresponding activism is to be unkind to yourself or others over which changes get prioritized – and which ones don’t.
Your Mind, Your Body, Your Business
Ultimately, how you care for your mind and body is your business. We can make changes that challenge us and get us outside of our comfort zones while still maintaining limits and boundaries that protect our overall wellness and ability to continue moving forward.
Imperfection is perfect!
